Novotel Phu Quoc Resort, Vietnam
This is my second visit to Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam this year as we came in April and loved it so much.
It’s only 15 min drive from airport.
I have the impression that Novotel is a business hotel, and I didn't expect it to be so nice because it cost less than RM300 per night including breakfast for three people.
But The hotel is a beautiful 5 star resort with huge grounds, modern interiors, and a nice long road leading from the hotel to the beach. The resort has a private beach and two swimming pools to relax and enjoy.
The room is Classic layout but simple and relaxing with a balcony.
Breakfast has wide selections.
And in front of hotel, there is night market place. So easy access to restaurants.
Highly recommended! It’s Wonderful hotel in Phu Quoc.

Mercure Nagano Matsushito Resort & Spa @ Nagano, Japan
Short trip to Japan for family celebration events. I came to Nagano Prefecture where my family lives.
This Mercure Nagano Matsushiro is a 20-minute drive from Zenkoji Temple, a famous landmark in Nagano City.
The huge hot spring hotel became Mercure brand and opened in April 2024.
The rooms and other facilities are quite old style, but the onsen and outdoor baths are very nice. The system is quite efficient, and amenities and water are self-service, taken from a place where they are put together.
The Mercure group in Japan has an all-inclusive system, which means that buffet breakfast, buffet dinner, drinks and alcoholic beverages at meals, and drinks and alcoholic beverages in the lounge are all included in the price.
The meals are not luxurious food, but they are very tasty and of high-end hotel quality, and are made special by the local red grape juice, apple juice, Shine muscat, and creative sauces, as well as all the sake, shochu, and sparkling wine you can drink. It is very satisfying.
It was extremely crowded even on a weekday (most of the customers were Japanese), but it was a great value for money, which explains why it is so popular.

家族のお祝いイベントのため、日本に一時帰国中。家族の住む長野県に来ました。
このメルキュール長野松代は、長野市の名所、善光寺から車で20分ほどのところ。巨大な温泉ホテルがメルキュールブランドになり2024年4月にオープンしました。
部屋などはとても古く、かなり昔のスタイルですが、温泉と露天風呂があるのがとても良い。システムがかなり効率化されていて、アメニティや水は、まとめて置いてある場所から取るセルフサービス。日本のメルキュール系列にはオールインクルーシブシステムがあり、ビュッフェ朝食、ビュッフェディナー、食事でのお酒とドリンク、ラウンジでのお酒やドリンクが全て込みの料金。食事は豪華な食材はありませんが高級ホテルクオリティでとてもおいしく、地元の濃い赤ぶどうジュースやリンゴジュース、シャインマスカット、クリエイティブなソース類によってスペシャル感があり、お酒も日本酒や焼酎、スパークワインもすべて飲み放題。大満足です。
平日でもものすごく混み合っていますが(客のほとんどが日本人)、人気の理由がわかるお得感がありました。

It has been a long time since I stayed at the Renaissance Johor Bahru, a cozy and truly relaxing hotel. This time, they upgraded me to a pool terrace room.
A Renaissance specialty? s welcome message on the mirror, the welcome amenity of three sophisticated, creative, and delicious bottled salsas and mini cones, and the heartwarming hospitality with fresh presentation every time. The rooms are very clean and the staff is hospitable. The hotel is neither too dignified nor too casual, but rather comfortable with just the right amount of kindness and just the right amount of warmth.
The omelette at breakfast was creamy, rich, and very tasty.
I was also reminded that the location is very convenient for getting around by Grab, with easy access to JB Town and to the Austin and Molek areas.

Newly opened Courtyard Hotel in Puchong in June 2024.
We stayed there for one night at the beginning of a holiday weekend.
It is located on top of a new shopping mall, which is very convenient as the mall has a large supermarket with a wide selection of goods 24 hours a day, a convenience store, and a number of restaurants. The rooms are new and very clean. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The view from the room is a mix of the dynamic city and the peaceful townscape, which I never get tired of.
The pool is small. It was very crowded with families on holidays.
Breakfast is of better quality than business hotels in the same price range. The French-style dishes, such as potato diffinois (potato gratin), chicken stew, and confit (in oil) ingredients for salad were very carefully prepared and tasted very good. I had the opportunity to take a picture with Executive Chef Victor, who has worked in hotels in many different countries.
The hotel made me feel like I was traveling to a new city, perhaps because I was in Kuala Lumpur, but in an area I don't usually visit.

部屋からの眺めもダイナミックなシティとのどかな街並みが混在していて飽きません。

朝食は、同価格帯のビジネスホテル以上のクオリティ。とてもセンスがよく、とくに、ポテトのディフィノア(ポテトグラタン)やチキンのシチュー、サラダ用のオイルでコンフィした具材など、フレンチ系のメニューの丁寧さとおいしさが際立っていて、コストをかけなくても確かな腕のシェフがいれば満足感はすごく高いというのを再認識。さまざまな国のホテルで腕を振るってきた、エグゼクティブシェフのVictor氏と写真を撮らせていただきました。
クアラルンプール内にいるのに、普段来ない地域だからか、新しい街に旅をしたような気分になれるホテルでした。

The Oriental Park KLCC @ Park side, KLCC, KL
No Pork No Lard
Located on the park side of Suria KLCC, this terrace café restaurant is in the same group as The Tokyo Restaurant, a very popular Basque cheesecake restaurant in ISETAN Lot 10.
They serve Japanese and Asian fusion cuisine, from breakfast to drinks in the evening.
I have only been there in the morning, but I like it because I can have a very nice time. From the large terrace seats you can see the greenery of the park and the fountain, and jazz music plays loudly inside the restaurant. The sandwiches on the breakfast menu are reasonable in quantity and price. The Popeye sandwich, the Genovese chicken sandwich, and the tropical fruit sandwich were all very good. The bread is doughy and stuffy.
It is a large place, so it is very empty in the morning on weekdays and weekends, a comfortable place to relax and enjoy the natural wind and sun. Lovely.

Suria KLCC内、公園側にある、テラスカフェレストラン。ISETAN Lot10 のバスクチーズケーキが大人気のレストラン「The Tokyo Restaurant」と同じグループ。
日本とアジアのヒュージョン料理を提供していて、朝食から夜のお酒まで楽しめます。
まだ朝しか行ったことがないのですが、とても素敵な時間を過ごせるので気に入っています。広いテラス席からは公園の緑と噴水が見えて、店内には大きめの音で流れるジャズ。朝食メニューのサンドウィッチは手頃な量とお値段。ポパイサンド、ジェノベーゼチキンサンド、トロピカルフルーツサンド、どれもとても美味しかったです。食パンはぎっしり詰まった生地で、好みは分かれるかもしれません。広いので、平日でも週末でも午前中はとても空いていて、自然の風と太陽を感じながらゆったりと過ごせて心地よい場所。素敵です。

First trip to Da Nang. Stayed 2 nights at the Four Points by Sheraton Da Nang by the sea.
Big hotel with lots of hospitality and lots of free activities.
The ocean view suite had a beautiful seaview and sunrise from the living room, bedroom and bathroom all. Spacious, bright and very comfortable rooms. Great views from the pool, bar and gym. There was also a jacuzzi and sauna.
Breakfast was extensive with a buffet as well as a separate order menu with a choice of Vietnamese and Western dishes.
I had an image of Four Points as a simple business-like hotel, but I felt this was a resort hotel with attention to detail. I would like to stay here again.

はじめてのダナン旅行。海沿いのフォーポインツバイシェラトンダナンに2泊しました。
ホスピタリティに溢れ、無料のアクティビティがたくさんある大きなホテル。
オーシャンビューのスイートルームは、リビングルーム、ベッドルーム、バスルーム全てから美しすぎるシービューや日の出を見ることができました。広くて明るくてとても快適な部屋。プールやバーやジムからも素晴らしい眺め。ジャグジーやサウナもありました。
朝食はビュッフェだけでなく、別途ベトナム料理や西洋料理から選べるオーダーメニューもあり、充実していました。
フォーポインツはシンプルなビジネスライクなホテルのイメージがあったのですが、ここは細かいところに気を配ってくれているリゾートホテルだと感じました。また宿泊したいです。

The huge 67-meter statue of Lady Buddha sits atop a 693-meter mountain overlooking Da Nang.
It belongs to Zen Buddhism, a branch of Vietnamese Buddhism.
The large grounds are covered with marble and decorated with many large bonsai trees, making it a beautiful place.

ダナンを一望できる693mの山の頂上にある、67mの巨大なレディブッダ像。
ベトナム仏教の一派である禅宗に属しているそう。
広い敷地には大理石が敷き詰められ、大きな盆栽がたくさん飾ってあり、美しい場所。

Walking across here, I found Highlands Coffee, the No. 1 coffee chain in Vietnam. It is a large store, cool and just right for cooling off.
ハン川にかかる666mのドラゴンの装飾のある橋、ロン橋(ドラゴンブリッジ)。アメリカのコンサルティング会社のデザイン。
週末の夜には火を吹くそうです。
ここを歩いて渡ったところに、ベトナムのNo1コーヒーチェーンのハイランズコーヒーがありました。広い店内で涼しくて、涼むのにちょうど良い。
充実した午前中。

1, Morning walk
My First trip to Hoi An.
Flew from Kuala Lumpur to Da Nang for 2 hours and 50 minutes. Then a 45-minute Grab ride to Hoi An.
Old Town, registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a well-preserved example of a Southeast Asian trading port from the 15th to 19th centuries, and has deep ties with Japan, as there was a Japanese town there from the end of the 16th century until the isolation of Japan.
During the day, it was extremely hot with strong sunlight, so I took a walk from 8 am to noon to have breakfast, browse stores and markets, and have tea.
From the hotel where I was staying, I walked along the river to Old Town. It is a beautiful town.
For lunch, we had Hoi An's famous Cao Lau noodle dish and White Rose, a steamed spring roll skin made into a rose shape and topped with shrimp and ground pork. Cao Lau is said to have originated from Ise Udon noodles in Japan, and was a delicious noodle dish consisting of firm udon noodles topped with pork chashu pork and served with a soy sauce-based sauce.

初めてのホイアン旅行。
クアラルンプールからダナンへ飛行機で2時間50分。それからグラブタクシーで45分くらいでホイアンに到着。
世界遺産にも登録されているオールドタウンは、15世紀から19世紀にかけての東南アジアの貿易港の保存状態の良い例として知られています。16世紀末から鎖国までは日本人街もあったくらい、日本との繋がりも深い街。
日中は強い日差しでものすごい暑さなので、朝8時からお昼くらいまで、散歩しながら朝食を食べたり、お店や市場をみたり、お茶をしたりしました。
宿泊しているホテルから、川沿いを歩いてオールドタウンへ。美しい街です。
ランチでいただいたのは、ホイアン名物のCao Lau (カオラウ)という麺料理とホワイトローズという春巻きの皮をバラ状に仕立て、エビと豚肉のすり身をのせて蒸したもの。カオラウは日本の伊勢うどんが発祥と言われているようで、コシのあるうどんにチャーシューのトッピング、醤油ベースのタレに絡めていただく美味しい麺料理でした。
