One of JB’s top restaurants, serving simple, aromatic grilled dishes made with the finest ingredients and paired with creative sauces. It’s a popular spot that sells over 500 kg of beef steaks every month. I love it too and have been a regular since it first opened.
Temper is a direct-fire grilling restaurant that incorporates plenty of Asian elements. It has locations in Mount Austin and Eco Botanic.
The ingredients, grilled over an open flame using mangrove wood, are carefully selected and prepared—such as through dry-aging—to ensure they’re at their absolute best. The restaurant’s signature sauces, which incorporate Asian elements like Asian chimichurri, foie gras sauce, and yuzu soy sauce, are unique to this establishment. With an extensive wine selection, you can easily share bottles with friends, enjoy plenty of drinks and food, and have a wonderful time.

Awadori is Johor Bahru’s only yakitori-specialty izakaya run by a Japanese owner-chef.
Thanks to Chef Yutaka Honjima’s passion and ingenuity, combined with the teamwork among the staff, I always believed this restaurant would gradually gain a loyal following and establish itself—even if it took a little time. Now, with an average rating of 4.8 from over 400 Google reviews, it has become a hugely popular spot.
The yakitori and eel made with Kampong chicken, grilled to perfection over binchotan charcoal, are must-try items. The “Chōchin Wagyu” wrap is a rare new addition to the menu. The “Bara Chirashi” is so delicious you’ll want to eat it over and over again. You can also enjoy a variety of their signature seafood rice bowls. This is an authentic yakitori izakaya where you can savor the delicious flavors of homemade dishes.

A buffet at Daily Social, the dining restaurant at the Sheraton Johor Bahru. It’s available both for lunch and dinner on weekends.
I went for the dinner buffet.
It’s an international buffet featuring Western cuisine as well as Chinese and Malaysian dishes. The main courses were luxurious and of high quality. The inclusion of berries among the desserts really added a special touch. They also offer senior rates, and Marriott Bonvoy members get a 20% discount, which is a nice perk.
There’s also a package that includes Sunday brunch and pool access.

It’s been 10 months since the Sheraton Johor Bahru opened. The adjacent shopping mall is already home to many tenants, and I hear the hotel is often fully booked on weekends.
I stayed in a Premier Club Room for two nights. The room was spacious, with a bright, simple, and warm interior. The bathroom was also spacious and comfortable to use. The selection of flavored teas was wonderful. It was very relaxing room.
True to the concept of “Cross-Culture”—where people gather and connect—the lobby is bright and very spacious, with several sofas. You can see the lounge, restaurant, and café all from the lobby, and staff are always present, attentive to guests and offering a warm welcome.
Club Lounge is quiet and cozy. During cocktail hour, it’s a real treat to enjoy five types of cocktails and two types of mocktails expertly crafted by the bartender.
The pool area is an oasis in the heart of the city! With a fun kids' pool, a cabana area, and a pool bar, you can relax and enjoy your time here.

部屋は広々とし、明るくシンプルで温かみがある内装。バスルームも広く使いやすい。フレーバーティーのセレクションが素敵。とてもリラックスできます。
クロスカルチャー、人々が集い、つながるというコンセプト通り、ロビーも明るくてとても広く、ソファーがいくつもあります。ラウンジやレストラン、カフェがロビーから一望でき、スタッフが常にいて、お客に気を配り、温かく迎えてくれます。
クラブラウンジは静かで大人な雰囲気。カクテルタイムには、バーテンダーが作ってくれる5種のカクテルと2種のモクテルが本格的で嬉しい。
プールエリアは都会の中のオアシス！楽しいキッズプールも、カバナエリアも、プールバーもありゆったりと時間を過ごせます。
