Introducing Japan’s topic.
On 31 Dec, We Japanese eat soba noodles called “toshikoshi soba” (year-crossing soba) to wish for a long lasting life.
So today, I had Soba at Soba restaurant at Lot 10, KL. There was long que.
Japan’s most biggest festival; New Year Celebration is January 1st.
New Year Special dish is “ Osechi” dishes.
Most dishes are cooked in order to be preserved for at least three days so women don't have to cook during that period. Each dish and ingredient in osechi has meanings, such as good health, good harvest, happiness, prosperity, long life, and so on.
Most families prepare it either by cooking it or buying it, but as it is often a traditional preserved dish, it is not very popular with children or young people.
Osechi from the most expensive ryotei restaurants can cost upwards of 100,000 yen ( RM4000) but are a popular way to start the year.

Thank you for reading “ Malaysia Review” during 2020.
