Island Hopping ( Tunku Abdul Rahman Park: Mamutik island & Manukan Island) @ Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Borneo
Clear water, lots of fish! The sea is so beautiful that you can see fish even in knee-deep water. Only 15 minutes from Kota Kinabalu. I was amazed that the water is so clean within sight of buildings!
I would love to come back anytime for this!
We island hopped to Manukan Island and Mamutik Island.
There are five islands that are only 15 minutes away from the ferry terminal "Jesselton Point" in Kota Kinabalu, collectively known as Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park. Of the five islands, Manukan Island, Mamutik Island, and Sapi Island can be reached. The distance between each island is about 5 minutes by boat. The islands are visible to the naked eye from Kota Kinabalu city.
When you arrive at the ferry terminal, there are about six different companies touting their services, but they all charge the same fare. It seems that any company will do, as it is almost the same, just the boat you take is different. It is OK to move as you are called.
Next to the counter, they also sell hats and mats.
Once you complete the formalities at the counter, you just go to the boat dock and wait to be called to board. During the current season, the boat departs when 12 people gather, and although there does not seem to be a fixed time, boats leave frequently. When you arrive at the island, you pay the entrance fee.
In advance, I asked which island is the best, but the answer differs from person to person, so I think all islands are good.
If you want to see a lot of fish in shallow water, I thought Mamutic Island was the best choice because it has a large coral area right in front of it.
There were toilets, showers, and a local diner.
You can also sign up for parasailing, sea walking, and other activities either at the counter or on the island.
*Check the photos for prices! Activities could be negotiated to about half the price.
