I had always wanted to visit Kinabalu Nature Park, a World Heritage Site. I went there with a friend and her family by rental car.
We drove for about 3 hours and 30 minutes, looking at the gigantic towering Mount Kinabalu. Mount Kinabalu, which changes its appearance depending on the movement of the clouds, is magnificent and beautiful.
【Kinabalu GEO Park (Poring Hot Springs, Canopy Walk)】
A nature park that includes Mount Kinabalu. A tropical rainforest jungle with abundant flora and fauna. There is a hot spring discovered by the Japanese military, and a well-maintained trail road leading to it, where you can do a canopy walk.
This is truly amazing! A precious experience! You go up the mountain and walk on a suspension bridge above a very high tree, but there are several suspension bridges in the green and it is not easy to cross them. It's a scary experience, but it's not easy. The view from there is spectacular.
The whole process of going up, doing the canopy week, and going down takes about 50 minutes. It is worth the 3.5 hours.
【Rafflesia, Rabbit park】
Along the road, we saw a sign that there was a Rafflesia. They said it was in Rabbit Park.
Rafflesia is the world's largest flower, and is a phantom flower that blooms only about 5 days out of the year.
After paying an admission fee of RM20 for adults and RM10 for children, we were guided to a beautiful flower. My friend was skeptical about whether they were real or not.
But when we asked for more details, he showed us the Rafflesia trees and buds, and explained about the flowers.
He told us that it takes nine months of the year for a bud to turn into a flower. They say it is delicate and withers quickly if touched. The flowers bloom for only seven days. Today is the second day after blooming! How lucky!
