Open-fire restaurants are all the rage and popular in Kuala Lumpur these days, but the chef who owns Temper is a chef who was already working with open-fire cooking before it became a trend.
He has set up this restaurant in a new shop lot in Mount Austin.
Open-fire and charcoal-grilled dishes are only as good as the ingredients, and here the combination of spices and marinades maximizes the flavor of simple ingredients.
Grilled mackerel, topped with plenty of spring onions, is like Japanese grilled salted mackerel, but with a secret ingredient of curry leaves and spices to further double the savory and delicious flavor.
The lamb Char Siew has a sweet and savory surface, while the inside is moist and juicy.
The portobello mushroom burger, covered with crunchy almond slices, is the best vegetarian burger I have ever had!
The cheesecake is very smoky and not too sweet, and should be paired with a glass of red wine rather than an after-dinner dessert.
The chef's creativity and solid skills are remarkable.
Weekdays only, a choice of lunch set includes two courses and a drink for RM52.
Beef steaks are also popular at night.
