The mooncake season is here! The Mid-Autumn Festival in 2025 is on October 6, and the EQ Hotel started accepting reservations on July 1. They are already on display and for sale at the hotel entrance.
The 2025 "Celestial Treasures" mooncake collection presented by EQ Hotel is an exclusive gift set for the Mid-Autumn Festival that combines tradition and modernity. The mooncakes are presented in beautifully reusable packaging and include five baked types (white lotus, red beans and nuts with salted egg and the signature "Pearl of Prosperity") and six snowskin types (moussin king durian, yuzu pandan, mint chocolate, dried scallops and nuts, red bean custard, butterfly pea bitagen white lotus).
The popular "Autumn Jade" set comes in a box that doubles as a handbag, while the RM68 "Miniature Collection" and a luxury gift with liquor are also available, as well as the "Longevity Collection" for corporate customers. What a special evening! A sushi omakase dinner for just eight guests at a time, in a hidden location within the hotel.
This weekend-only collaboration between Grand Hyatt and Sushi Azabu begins with a welcome drink on the 38th floor, followed by a move to the 5th floor. There, a spot-lit counter with only eight seats appears in a space not usually open to hotel guests. Chef Markey (Masaki Arakawa) of Sushi Azabu presents an authentic Edo-mae sushi course.
Using fish from Toyosu market, he slices with a sword-like knife right in front of you. Watching his precise movements is almost as special as tasting the sushi itself.
The sake pairing includes a Nigori aperitif and three types of sake served freely throughout the meal.
Alcohol-free options are also available. Chef Markey, likely the only Japanese-Muslim sushi chef in the world, creates traditional flavors without alcohol.

The variety of items, value for money, and the quality and deliciousness of each dish were all met, making this one of the best hotels to offer a Ramadan buffet!
The team, led by Executive Chef Victor, has created an array of Malay cuisine as well as Chinese, Indian, and Western dishes. The signature Fish Head Curry, the refined Nasi Kelab, the roast chicken and beef grilled to a succulent finish, the Indian spiced fish, the western chicken stewed in tomatoes, and the Chinese fried rice were all of high quality and very tasty. Highly recommended.

Ramadan Buffet at Anantara Desaru Coast Resort. This is a hotel that I always want to come back to because of the wonderful atmosphere and appearance of the space.
Traditional flavors and regional Malaysian dishes are the main focus, but there are also quality grilled dishes such as Percik beef filet and Thai-style lamb chops, as well as Thai dishes such as duck red curry and mushroom tom yum kung. Be sure to try the whole roasted lamb grilled by the poolside.

“Santapan Senja" means “Twilight Dining”. You can enjoy a pleasant moment in the beautifully decorated hotel restaurant.
Highlights include whole roasted lamb, large tender beef short ribs, and chef-prepared Mee bandung (shrimp noodles) with Lobster and Assam pedas. Don't miss the Telur Sotong Goreng Kunyit (squid roe) or the Ramly burger.
I also love the local brand Merry ice cream. It's so good, you have to try all kinds.
