I attended the CNY event at Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur.
This is their 40th year. So it was more fantastic !
We enjoyed Acrobatic Lion Dance, Rythmic 24-drummers, Ling Long Yee Sang tossing, and Buffet lunch.
How prosperity! 5 Lions danced!

昨日は2025年のチャイニーズニューイヤー最終日。シャングリラクアラルンプールのイベントに出席しました。
今年40周年を迎えるこのホテル。より一層素晴らしいイベントでした。
アクロバティックライオンダンス、24太鼓の演奏、長い長いイーサンに、ビュッフェランチ。5頭のライオンによるダンスはなんておめでたいことでしょう！

The Ramadan buffet at the InterContinental has many beautifully arranged dishes, which heightened my expectations.
“santai-santai" is a Malay word meaning a relaxed activity or state of being. Led by Executive Chef Rudy Junaidie, the team encourages guests to unwind and reconnect with loved ones with exquisite cuisine.
I really enjoyed the unusual dishes such as Gulai Asam Rong, a Perak dish that even my Malay friends encountered for the first time, and whole roasted lamb seasoned with cumin and other spices from Xinjiang.

The 8th day of Chinese New Year is said to be the day of most wealth and prosperity.
We attended the festive Chinese New Year event (Acrobatic Lion Dance, Yee Sang, Buffet Lunch) at the 5-star Hotel & Residence: The Face Style, located in the Golden Triangle of KL.
We saw the longest firecrackers ever, and the lion dance, which lasted over 90 minutes, seemed to promise prosperity to come.

I stayed three nights at the JW Marriott Medan, which is reputed to be the best hotel in Medan.
There are no tall buildings around, so the panoramic view from the rooms is breathtaking. The rooms are spacious and the gym is open 24 hours. Convenient location to go anywhere. Breakfast is a wide selection. Staff was always smiling and hospitality was good.
The executive round is very spacious but not a relaxing or working atmosphere as there is very little sofa seating. It is more like a place for afternoon tea and cocktail hour. The selection of food at cocktail hour was very good and tasty. I would stay here again when I come to Medan.

周りに高い建物がないので、パノラマビューの部屋からの景色は圧巻。部屋は広く、ジムは24時間オープン。どこに行くにも便利な立地。朝食はインドネシア料理を中心に幅広いラインナップ。スタッフは常に笑顔でホスピタリティも良かったです。
エグゼクティブラウンドはとても広いのですが、ソファー席がほとんどないのでくつろいだり仕事をしたりする雰囲気ではありません。アフタヌーンティーとカクテルタイムのために利用する場所という感じ。カクテルタイムの料理の品揃えが豊富で、おいしく、とても良かったです。メダンに来たらまたここに宿泊したいです。

Istana Maimun (Palace) @ Medan, Indonesia

The palace of the Sultanate of Deli was built in 1892. It was built by Dutch architects and is the last palace in existence.
It is a unique palace consisting of 30 rooms combining elements of cultural heritage, Islamic and Indian architecture, and Spanish and Italian furniture and furnishings, but only the audience hall and dining room are open to the public. The king (the 14th) still lives here.
Perhaps it is a gathering place for locals, but there is a mobile amusement park in the yard, and garbage is scattered about. It is a pity that half the space in the royal palace is occupied by several souvenir shops, which reduces the beauty of the place. The live music at the entrance was nice.
We took a break for iced tea at an Indonesian restaurant just outside the palace.

1892年に建てられた、デリ王国の宮殿。オランダ人建築家によって建てられ、現存する最後のマレー宮殿だそう。
マレー文化遺産、イスラム建築、インド建築の要素と、スペインやイタリアの家具や調度品を組み合わせた30部屋からなるユニークな宮殿ですが、謁見の間とダイニングルームのみが一般公開されています。王様(14代目)が今もここに住んでいるそう。
地元の人が集まる場所なのか、庭には移動遊園地がありゴミも散乱。王宮内の半分のスペースはいくつかのお土産屋さんで占められていて、美しさが半減してるのが残念。入り口の生演奏は良かった。
宮殿を出たところのインドネシアレストランでアイスティーで休憩。

This museum allows visitors to learn about the history and diverse culture of North Sumatra. I enjoyed the diverse exhibits from prehistoric to colonial times.
The large and small dolls on display were so dynamic that they seemed to be about to move.
Groups of local elementary and junior high school students were here.

Tip Top Restaurant @ Medan, Indonesia

The oldest restaurant in Medan, established in 1934.
Located in Old Town, near Tjong A Fie Mansion.
The restaurant began as a bakery-cake store with wood-fired ovens. European and Chinese cuisine, homemade ice cream and cakes are on the menu. They still use this oven today, and the ice cream recipe and the machine that produces it have not changed since 1934. The retro interior has a nice atmosphere. We went there around 12:30 p.m., but the cakes and breads were sold out. The beef tongue steak, Chinese soup with white asparagus and crab, and croquettes served while thinking about the time under Dutch rule and its 91-year history are very special. The sweet seasoned chicken rolls were also delicious, and the ice cream with rum was very good.
The total cost for two people was IDR253000 (about RM70).
I would also like to try the traditional breads and cakes.

薪焼きのオーブンを使用したベーカリーケーキショップからはじまったレストラン。ヨーロッパ料理と中華料理、自家製アイスクリームとケーキがメニューに並びます。現在もこのオーブンを使用しているそうで、アイスのレシピも製造する機械も、1934年から変わらないとのこと。レトロな店内はいい雰囲気。お昼12:30ごろ行きましたが、ケーキやパンは売り切れでした。オランダ統治下の時代と91年の歴史に思いを馳せながらいただく牛タンステーキ、ホワイトアスパラとカニの中華スープ、コロッケは特別な感じ。甘辛い味付けのチキンロールもおいしかったし、ラム酒入りのアイスがとてもおいしかったです。2人で合計¥2400(RM70)ほど。
昔ながらのパンやケーキも食べてみたい。

Tjong A Fie Mansion @ Medan, Indonesia

We came to Medan (Indonesia's fourth largest city) in North Sumatra, Indonesia for Chinese New Year vacation.
Kuala Lumpur is only 70 minutes away by plane. From the airport to Medan is an hour by Grab.

The first place We visited was Tjong A Fie Mansion, a tourist attraction in Medan's Old Town.
Built in 1895, former residence of a prominent overseas Chinese family with 8000 sq meter.
He contributed to the development of Medan's economy and local charities, and was a friend of the King of Deri Kingdom and Sun Yat-sen, and his descendants manage this building. This is also the first house in Medan to be electrified.
The house is in the Pranakan style, reminiscent of Penang and Malacca. It is spacious, beautiful and well maintained.

チャイニーズニューイヤー休暇に、インドネシアの北スマトラにあるメダン(インドネシア4番目に大きな街)に来ました。
クアラルンプールは飛行機でたったの70分。空港からメダンまではGrabで1時間。

最初に行ったのは、メダンのオールドタウンにある観光名所「Tjong A Fie Mansion」。
1895 年に建てられた、8000 平米の華僑の名士の元邸宅。
メダンの経済の発展と地域の慈善活動などに貢献し、デリ王国の王様や孫文とも親交があった方だそうで、子孫がこの建物を管理しています。またここは、メダンで初めて電気を引いた住宅とのこと。
ペナンやマラッカを思い出す、プラナカン様式のお屋敷。広くて美しく、よく手入れされていました。
