The buffet at the Courtyard Kuala Lumpur South, running through the end of June, has an Asian theme. It features dishes from Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, and South Korea.
The appetizers include chapchae, Soba noodle salad, and papaya salad, while desserts feature hotteok, dorayaki, dango, a mango and sticky rice dessert, and kueh—an assortment rarely seen at other hotels.
Of course, the main dishes include sumptuous grilled items and teppanyaki. The promotion offering two free children per two adults is also a great deal.

When I stayed at the Hyatt Regency KL the other day, We had dinner at ENSŌ, the hotel’s izakaya-style bar. The space, which reimagines the rustic charm of a Japanese farmhouse with sophisticated elegance, exudes a classic, luxurious atmosphere from the entrance all the way to the terrace seating.
The cuisine, crafted by Chef Masami Okamoto—a true Japanese chef with over 30 years of experience at top-tier restaurants across Asia and Europe—is authentic, meticulously prepared, and highlights the best of the ingredients. True to its izakaya concept, it’s a place where you can enjoy a meal at a reasonable price despite being a hotel restaurant—the kind of spot you’ll be proud to know about. I thoroughly enjoyed the sushi, with rice and toppings as refined as those at a high-end sushi restaurant, as well as shabu-shabu featuring first-class broth and dipping sauces. You can also enjoy cocktails crafted by Head Mixologist Ivon Soon, making this a versatile spot that works equally well as a bar or an izakaya.

先日ハイアットリージェンシーKLに宿泊した際、ホテル内の居酒屋バーENSŌでディナーしました。日本の農家の素朴さを洗練された高級感で再構築した空間は、入り口からテラス席までもがクラシックラグジュアリーな雰囲気。
アジアやヨーロッパの一流レストランで30年以上にわたりキャリアを積んできた、生粋の日本料理人、岡本雅美シェフによる料理は、正統派できちんとおいしく素材を活かしたものばかり。居酒屋のコンセプトなので、ホテル内レストランでありながら手頃に楽しめる、知っていると自慢できるようなお店。シャリもネタもお高級寿司店のような洗練されたお寿司、出汁もタレも一流のしゃぶしゃぶなどを満喫しました。ヘッドミクソロジスト Ivon Soon 氏のカクテルも楽しめて、バーとしても居酒屋としても使い勝手が良いお店です。

I was immediately captivated by the tea room right at the entrance and the exquisite, high-quality dishes served in such an elegant setting.
The crispy yet moist shrimp rice rolls colored with red yeast, the tofu soup showcasing masterful craftsmanship, and the sweet dim sum and desserts—which are subtly sweet—offer a perfect balance that leaves you feeling light and satisfied after the meal.
Whether dining with family, friends, or for a business meal, this is a restaurant you’ll want to visit time and time again.

It features an abundance of fresh seafood and herbs. The pasta—including ravioli, gnocchi, pappardelle, and fusilli—is handmade in-house daily and is surprisingly authentic. It’s so delicious that you’ll want to mop up every last drop of sauce with bread. Let’s do “La Scarpetta”! (This refers to the act of using bread to wipe up the remaining sauce on your plate, a part of Italian food culture that encourages instinctive enjoyment without formalities.)

The Brasserie, a Michelin-Selected restaurant located within the St. Regis Hotel, offers fine dining that reinterprets Malaysian flavors and ingredients in a modern European style, with a different ambiance for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The business lunch menu, which was recently updated and is available only on weekdays, allows you to choose between a two-course or three-course meal. The meal includes a light appetizer, a main course chosen from a selection of grilled dishes and pastas, a beautiful dessert or cheese plate served with homemade brioche and butter, and chocolate to finish.
The prawn cocktail I chose as my appetizer was a work of art—far more exquisite and delicious than I could have imagined from the menu description. The Wagyu steak I ordered as my main course was cooked to a perfect medium-rare. Given the atmosphere, the price feels like a real valued, and I definitely plan to return.

私が選んだ前菜のプラウンカクテルは、メニュー名からの想像を超えるアートのような仕上がりとおいしさでした。メインの和牛ステーキのミディアムレアの焼き加減もパーフェクト。この雰囲気でこのお値段はお値打ち感があり、またリピートしたいと思います。

However, with his signature desserts and afternoon tea this time, I was once again moved by the quality and flavor of the ingredients.
Chef Jason’s creations are “bold yet elegant,” blending the classic elegance of Europe with the delicate sensibility of Asia. The desserts, with their restrained sweetness and perfect balance of sweet and savory, are exquisite.
The afternoon tea begins with a fragrant welcome tea infused with lemongrass and ginger. The savory course features a refreshing pomelo and shrimp pie, followed by classic sandwiches, a croque-monsieur, and perfectly baked pastries, leading into modern flavors cakes.

はじめてエグゼクティブペストリーシェフJason de Oca のデザートをいただいたのは、去年のクリスマスビュッフェでした。クラシックかつクリエイティブなデザートのあまりの美しさとおいしさに驚き、忘れられない体験でしたが、今回の彼のシグネイチャーのデザートとアフタヌーンティーでは、素材の良さとおいしさに改めて感動しました。
Jasonシェフのクリエーションは、ヨーロッパのクラシックな優美さと、アジアの繊細な感性を融合させた、「大胆でありながら優雅」なもの。甘さを抑え、塩気とのバランスをとったデザートは絶品。
アフタヌーンティーでは、レモングラスとジンジャーの香り高いウェルカムティーから始まり、続くセイボリーは、爽やかさを感じるポメロと海老のパイティー、クラシックなサンドウィッチやクロックムッシュ、完璧な焼き菓子に続き、モダンなケーキへ。紅茶はJing Tea のセレクション。

My First Taste of Nepali Regional Cuisine!
Kuala Lumpur’s culinary scene is diverse, but Nepali cuisine is a rare find.
This restaurant in Bangsar serves “Thakali cuisine,” which has its roots in the Mustang region of Nepal.
The spices used to create harmony are appetizing, resulting in a flavor that’s spicy yet gentle.
Although it’s a foreign cuisine, it felt somehow nostalgic and easily suited my palate—a truly new culinary experience.
The mutton momos (dumplings) are juicy and a must-order. Everyone’s favorite momos come in a variety of types and cooking styles to choose from. The Thakali Thali Set is a set meal featuring a chewy, buckwheat dough staple served with curry, and you can even get refills on the side dishes. The fried potatoes seasoned with sichuan pepper and the chips made from Himalayan buckwheat flour were dishes I’d never encountered before, and they’re perfect with a beer.
